It’s finally time… time for two brand spankin’ new Octodad: Dadliest Catch levels, the ‘Shorts’!
After the great response Octodad received from y’all, we wanted to give back a little in thanks for your spectacular support of our fine little game. Everyone who currently owns Octodad: Dadliest Catch and anyone who grabs a copy in the future will get these levels FREE of charge through the new v1.03 patch. It will be available for your PlayStation 4, PC, Mac, Linux on the 14th of October. Next week!
After completing the story of Octodad: Dadliest Catch you might have been left wanting for more. Maybe you were curious how Octodad and Scarlet got along after their fateful first meeting aboard the fine vessel ‘The Cod of War’? Perhaps you’re curious what Stacy and Tommy do with their lavish amounts of free time? Both of these are things you’ll be able to explore in the Octodad Shorts “Dad Romance” and “Medical Mess”.
Remember, even if you don’t have Octodad now you can still get these levels for free along with your purchase of the game in the future. To further celebrate we’re also putting the game on sale for one week (starting 14th October) at 50% off on all platforms.
Be sure to pop back here once you’ve played the Shorts and let us know what you think!

Our Kickstarter funds for Octodad went towards some business costs and conference booths. Outside of that our 9 person team at Young Horses worked on Octodad: Dadliest Catch for free for 2.5 years while holding other full-time jobs. Our hopes were that we would make back the amount of money that we felt our time was worth and be given the opportunity to bring forth from our noodly noggins other weird stuff for our next game. All we’ve ever wanted was to create something that connects with folks and to be able to continue doing that with our creative control intact.
Today we’re happy to say that both the sales and reception of Dadliest Catch have exceeded those expectations. To date, Octodad: Dadliest Catch has sold over 90,000 copies on PC/Mac/Linux. Our expectations have been met and then some to say the least.
One great thing about releasing the game is that we’ve had a humongous influx of feedback and thoughts on it from critics, players, YouTubers, and spectators. The entire team has been entranced by our Steam forums, twitter feeds, and facebook page. Most devs and folks in general tend to say, “Don’t read the comments”. However, to get a good feel for how people play and enjoy Dadliest Catch we read everything we can.
As a result of that and our own realizations, we’ve recently made some significant changes to the game that we think are for the better. So far the feedback on these changes has been very positive. We want our players to know that we pay attention to what they have to say and that they can look forward to our continued support of the game. As our designers worked towards these changes, our programmers have also been finishing the PS4 version of the game. We’re so excited to get it out there soon!
If you have any questions or just want to say Hi make sure to follow us on Twitter @octodadgame and give us a shout.
Chris created this dadly hat for the Team Fortress 2 Steam workshop/store. If it gets enough up votes maybe you’ll be able to wear it in game sometime soon! Spread it around and let everyone know how much you’d like to wear it if you think it’s snazzy enough for your next battle. The head sack even wiggles!
Young Horses is proud to announce Octodad: Dadliest Catch is set to release for PC/Mac/LinuxJanuary 30th, 2014 on Steam, Humble Store, and GOG.
It’s been a long time coming, and we’re super excited that the game is finally going to be in players hands at the end of this month.
Besides the concept of Octodad himself, we’ve up until now kept much of Dadliest Catch’s story under wraps. To make the 2 week wait a little easier to bare we’ve put together this trailer giving you a sneak peek into his life. We hope it answers some of your questions and leaves you with fun new ones.
We recently got our official store page up for Octodad: Dadliest Catch. What this means is that when the game comes out it will be sold from that page. For now you can checkout some new screenshots and also add the game to your wishlist so you can get notifications as to when the game releases and/or goes on sale.
We’re still planning to release in January so there isn’t too much time left before release. We’re finishing up a few of the last levels and getting in all the dialogue + cutscenes
